7th Circ. Asked To Rehear Medicare Research Funding Case
Chicago teaching hospital Rush University Medical Center on Tuesday urged the full Seventh Circuit to review its panel decision to strike down a ruling allowing Medicare compensation for Rush's "pure research" costs, claiming the court had issued a prior opinion offering a contradictory interpretation of the statute at hand.

Medicare Need Not Pay For Pure Research, 7th Circ. Says
The Seventh Circuit on Monday struck down a lower court's ruling allowing a Chicago teaching hospital Medicare compensation for its pure research costs, saying that the Affordable Care Act gave the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services the power to deny such payment.
