A Miami federal judge on Thursday refused to dismiss several putative class actions in Florida that claim a slew of major banks and insurance companies conspired to overcharge homeowners for force-placed insurance, also saying that the cases will move quickly.

Chase Says Force-Placed Policyholders Broke Contracts First
JPMorgan Chase Bank NA asked a Florida federal court Friday to toss a putative class action accusing it and Assurant Inc. of overcharging homeowners for force-placed insurance, saying the plaintiffs failed to maintain agreed-upon levels of insurance and the bank therefore had the right to buy additional coverage.

Assurant, Citibank Try To Sink Force-Placed Insurance Claims
Assurant Inc. sought Friday to dismantle four putative class actions in Florida claiming it conspired to overcharge homeowners for force-placed insurance, arguing that it had no involvement, while Citibank NA told a judge that one of those suits should be tossed because no contracts were breached.
