Empire Land Creditors Slam Settlement With Law Firms
A group of parties in the bankruptcy of real estate developer Empire Land are blasting the Chapter 7 trustee for proposing a $1.4 million settlement of claims against former estate counsel Glaser Weil Fink Howard Avchen & Shapiro LLP and Paul Hastings LLP, saying the trustee is trying to dodge responsibility for millions of wasted fees over the decade-old case.

Empire Trustee's Adversary Suit Headed To Bankruptcy Court
A California federal judge refused Friday to further consider an adversary proceeding initiated by Empire Land LLC’s bankruptcy trustee against a new iteration of the real estate developer, finding the action is better suited to the bankruptcy court where related litigation is in progress. Correction: An earlier version of this story named O’Melveny & Myers LLP as a defendant in the adversary proceeding when in fact all claims against O’Melveny were dismissed in 2012. The error has been corrected.
