Feds Seek To Speak In 11th Circ. Tribal Tax Battle
The federal government asked the Eleventh Circuit on Wednesday to allow it to speak in support of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians in their suit over whether taxes can be assessed on the tribe's casino property, saying an Alabama official is attempting to challenge the secretary of the interior's authority to take the tribe's land into trust.
