    The Cachil DeHe Band of Wintun Indians of the Colusa Indian Community urged the Ninth Circuit on Friday to rethink its ruling backing the U.S. Department of the Interior's decision to acquire land for another California tribe's casino project, saying the DOI gave preferential treatment to the other tribe in its review process.

    9th Circ. Backs DOI's Land Acquisition For Calif. Tribal Casino

    The Ninth Circuit on Wednesday upheld a lower court ruling that rejected challenges to the U.S. Department of the Interior's decision to acquire land for a California tribe's casino project, saying the government properly decided the tribe was eligible to have the land taken into trust and did enough to address the environmental impact of the plan.

    The federal government and the Enterprise Rancheria told the Ninth Circuit that it should affirm a district court's rejection of a challenge to its casino brought by another tribe, saying that they had complied with all of the relevant environmental and socioeconomic reviews.
