Va. To Accept Sales Tax Extension Requests Due To COVID-19

By Jaqueline McCool · 2020-03-20 14:43:29 -0400

Virginia will take requests from dealers that are registered to collect sales tax and are affected by the COVID-19 crisis for a monthlong extension to file returns and remit tax, the Virginia Department of Taxation said in a recent bulletin.

The bulletin, released Thursday, will allow sales tax dealers to apply for an extension for filing and payment, moving the due date from March 20 to April 20. If an extension is granted, interest will still accrue, according to the bulletin.
