GM Fights Push For King & Spalding Ignition Defect Work
GM on Tuesday took another swing at consumers in multidistrict litigation over ignition switch defects who claim that it conspired with King & Spalding LLP to cover up the problem with quick settlements, saying they can't compel the firm to produce large swaths of internal work.

Firms Stand By Suggestion GM Broke $900M Prosecution Deal
Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP, Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein LLP and Hilliard Munoz Gonzales LLP defended their recent letter to U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara alleging GM possibly violated its $900 million deal with prosecutors, saying Friday the letter was not misleading and GM's actions forced them to send it.

General Motors LLC withdrew on Monday a motion to dismiss one of several lawsuits that have remained since GM settled a criminal probe into faulty ignition switches, after an opposing counsel claimed the motion may contradict the automaker's official account in the deal.

GM Wants NHTSA Settlement Kept Out Of Ignition Trials
General Motors Co. told a New York federal court Monday to block plaintiffs in multidistrict litigation over faulty ignition switches from introducing a related $35 million consent order with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as evidence at upcoming trials, calling it "irrelevant" to the plaintiffs' claims that the automaker concealed the defect.

GM Pays DOJ $900M, Takes $575M Charge In Civil Deals
General Motors Co. on Thursday announced a $900 million criminal settlement ending the government's investigation into faulty ignition switches and also resolved more than half of all death and personal injury lawsuits in the ongoing multidistrict litigation and a shareholder class action in two civil settlements that will result in a $575 million charge in the third quarter.

General Motors LLC and King & Spalding LLP on Friday struck back at multidistrict litigation plaintiffs who alleged the two conspired to conceal an ignition switch defect affecting millions of vehicles by quickly settling claims in order to avoid a recall, telling a New York federal judge the accusations "defy logic."
