A California federal judge has shot down a bid by Bank of Internet USA to depose the attorney representing a former internal auditor in a whistleblower suit and the bank's countersuit, saying the bank could easily glean the information it was seeking from nonprivileged sources.

Bank of Internet USA was hit on Tuesday with a whistleblower suit in California federal court claiming it threatened, harassed and fired an internal auditor who raised concerns about illegal activities at the bank to management and federal regulators.
