A trucking industry lobbying group, a D.C. think tank and a Boston public-interest law firm urged the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday to compel arbitration in a class action accusing New Prime Inc. of failing to pay independent contractor truck-driver apprentices a proper minimum wage.

The U.S. Supreme Court agreed Monday to hear New Prime Inc.'s bid to compel arbitration in a class action over its apprenticeship program, after the trucking company asked it to decide whether the Federal Arbitration Act exception for interstate transportation workers applies to independent contractors.
