Former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell on Friday urged the U.S. Supreme Court to do what it had done for him and overturn the conviction of a New Jersey gubernatorial aide in the Bridgegate case, saying in a brief that prosecutors had twisted a fraud statute to get around the court's corruption case law.

A former aide for New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie who was sentenced to prison for orchestrating a politically motivated traffic jam on the George Washington Bridge has sought review of her criminal case before the U.S. Supreme Court, hoping for another chance to escape her fraud conviction.
