A former cadet who said the U.S. Coast Guard Academy violated his constitutional rights when it expelled him for becoming a father has struck a deal to resolve his suit, according to a filing in Connecticut federal court.

With the help of Yale Law School students and the American Civil Liberties Union, a man who was kicked out of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy shortly before graduation because he became a father has sued military and homeland security leaders to overturn a rule prohibiting parents' enrollment at the school, saying it unconstitutionally ended his path to commencement and a commission.
