A Utah telecom cable installation company's bid to collect legal fees from employees who filed a federal wage lawsuit represented a bad faith plot to undermine federal wage protections and scare workers into compliance, a technical employee told a Utah federal court.

Technicians for a Utah-based cable company allegedly made less than minimum wage after their employer misclassified them as independent contractors and made them drive their own vehicles to jobs on the workers' dime, according to a proposed collective action filed in Utah federal court.
