A Mexican restaurant group must pay $1.9 million in back pay and damages after a jury agreed with the U.S. Department of Labor's allegations that the company and its owners unlawfully denied workers minimum and overtime wages, a Kansas federal judge ruled Wednesday.

A Kansas federal judge denied a Mexican restaurant's request Thursday to dismiss a suit brought by the U.S. Department of Labor alleging that it committed various wage violations, knocking down the restaurant's arguments that the complaint's allegations were too vague to adequately defend.
