The anti-affirmative action group American Alliance for Equal Rights on Wednesday dropped its Texas federal lawsuit over the diversity fellowship program at Perkins Coie LLP, after the firm did away with the program's previous requirement that applicants come from underrepresented groups.

Morrison Foerster LLP and Perkins Coie LLP said on Friday that they will stop using race as the main factor in selecting applicants for their diversity, equity and inclusion fellowships for law students after they had become the targets of lawsuits in August that accused them of racially discriminating against nonminorities.
